Taking part in a charity run is one of the most popular ways to fundraise and at Against Breast Cancer we have runners involved in some of the biggest runs in both the UK and overseas.
There are runs for people of all abilities and often all you need to get started are a good pair of running shoes (or trainers). Running is also good for your health, both physical and mental.
Our research has shown that regular exercise can help reduce the risk of developing secondary breast cancer. In fact, almost 30% of breast cancer cases in the UK are preventable through lifestyle changes. It can also help you to lose weight and benefit your mental health.
Charity running events
Against Breast Cancer’s most popular running event is undoubtedly the Virgin Money London Marathon, although places are limited each year. However we have places for you in a variety of other 10ks, half marathons and marathons, including the Vitality Big Half, the Asics London 10,000 as well as the Great North Run and the Berlin Marathon.
For something less challenging and more fun, you might be interested in Rough Runner, whilst there are also ultra runs for a real challenge. But you are not limited to these events. You can also run for us in hundreds of other organised races – just let us know if you have a place and we’ll give you the same level of support.

Why run for Against Breast Cancer?
“When I put on my running vest I just felt so proud that I was able to give something back.”
Against Breast Cancer funds groundbreaking research into secondary spread breast cancer, the main cause of all breast cancer-related deaths. We look into the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer, with the ultimate goal of finding a vaccine against breast cancer.
Whether your choosing to run for someone affected by breast cancer or simply for the challenge, we will support you every step of the way. We will provide you with a running vest, training tips and fundraising materials to enable you to raise as much as you can and conquer the event.
